Modern Warfare 3 MW3

Some readers have asked about hip firing and how it works.  When you choose any firearm in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Black Ops, a cross hair will appear in the center of the screen.

This cross hair represents the spread or general firing area of your weapon if you “fire from the hip,” which means to shoot your gun without aiming it.

While firing from the hip is less accurate than aiming down the sights, and it’s generally
not the most chosen way to kill enemies, it does have its purpose and advantages.

Short-range guns like SMGs (sub machine guns) and shotguns actually work very well when you fire from the hip.

If an enemy surprises you at a close range, it’s much better to fire from the hip rather than carefully try to aim.  This fraction of a second that it takes to aim will often times cost you a life.

The only time you should'nt fire from the hip is when you are equipped with a sniper rifle or rifle. These weapons are completely inaccurate from the hip although I've seen a few with the Barret 50 cal do just that.

Learn to shoot from the hip and you will see a dramatic increase in your score and XP's.  It just takes practice.
